The work was created for the exhibition “The Art of Recommending for a Time of Accelerated Culture.”
The sculpture was one of the “creative recommendations,” referencing Ursula le Guin’s essay “The Inner Child and the Naked Politician” from the collection “No Time. Thinks of What Matters.”
In her text, Le Guin confronts the quote attributed to her, “A creative adult is a child who has survived”—a quote with which she completely disagrees. Investigating the source of this misattribution, the author raises questions about how easy it is to attach ourselves to trivial statements these days without questioning their meaning.
