Art Mejking

Event / Festival

ART Mejking is an event organized as part of the first Gliwice Art Biennale. It combines a contemporary art exhibition, micro-workshops, and interactive artistic activities in the studio spaces of the City Workshop.

Art in the city does not occur in a vacuum. Art requires a nurturing space for the transformation of creative reflection into the process of creating a work. An atelier, studio, or workshop in the city is a dream that proves achievable and accessible when a self-organizing community supports its realization. ART Mejking is a story about independently creating the right conditions for creative work. The presented artistic objects—paintings, prints, sculptures, photographs, light installations, and utilitarian objects—will appear in the context of unique tools, technologies, and workshop space designs created by the engaged community of the City Makerspace.

Visitors had the opportunity to explore the context of their creation in the ceramics, electronics, screen printing, darkroom, and carpentry studios through the lens of these artistic projects.

The exhibition was feature works by international artists associated with the association, as well as works by participants of the “Meetings with Clay” workshops, which have been held regularly at the Warsztat Miejski makerspace for the past year.
