About
My name is Agata Magdalena Nowak. I develop artistic practice in the field of visual arts. My primary creative medium is sculpture. I conduct research-based projects, organize curatorial exhibitions, workshops, and creative meetings. I earned my Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts from the Higher School of Art and Design (HEAD) in Geneva. I also graduated with a degree in Psychology from the University of Silesia in Katowice. For over 14 years, I have been combining artistic work with social activism and participatory projects in the field of cultural animation in the region. I am the artistic director and one of the main organizers of WUD Silesia – an international educational initiative in the fields of art, technology, and design. Since 2022, I have supported the activities of the Warsztat Miejski in Gliwice – a craft association and makerspace, where I co-create an open ceramics studio.
MORFIKA
Morfika refers to the concept of “morphism,” the process of transformation and the discovery of new forms. In my creative work, I am guided by curiosity, which leads me to diverse places. I trace thought and inspiration, and bring it to life. At the same time, in my research, I explore the history of contemporary philosophy and various narratives—traditional accounts, fictional stories, documentary images, and personal experiences—searching for patterns and similarities.
Morfika is a space for my work, play, and reflection.
SCULPTURE AND CERAMICS
A key aspect of my work is the commitment to quality and the practice of process observation. I am educating myself, testing, and gaining knowledge in working with materials and sculpting techniques.
For years, I have been developing my ceramic sculpture skills and deepening my knowledge in molding and various sculpting techniques.
In 2025, I graduated from the Cieszyn School of Crafts, where, under the masterful guidance of Bogdan and Beata Kosak, I deepened my knowledge in the ceramics studio and acquired skills in designing and creating plaster molds. I acquired the basics of stone sculpture during an open-air workshop with Anna Wszyndybył at the Center of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko. I also completed a metal sculpture course at the Maciej Kus Sculpture Studio in Łódź and a portrait sculpture and casting course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
